Eagles back-to-back matches within hours

ST. PAUL – The threat of two matches in one day didn't scare the Northwestern College men's tennis team as the Eagles posted a pair of 9-0 victories over Bethany Lutheran College and North Central University on Tuesday. The wins give NWC two more wins in the win column to solidify their second place spot in the UMAC standings.

Northwestern's Nos. 1-3 singles players in Caleb Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) (St. Paul, Minn./Harding), Keagen Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) and Jeremiah Schneck (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) had few flaws in their game as all three won both matches on the day. Schneck posted a pair of 6-0, 6-0 victories while Kauss and Joshua Fread (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo) also had a shutout on the day.

After losing just two games combined to Bethany Lutheran, the Eagles' three doubles teams handled North Central 8-0, 8-4 and 8-1.

Northwestern's next match is scheduled for Thursday, when the Eagles will host Martin Luther College at Mounds View High School in Arden Hills, Minn.
