Eagle women fall to St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. -- Northwestern was on the short side of an 8-1 final score against the College of St. Scholastica, ending a four match winning streak for the Eagles. NWC's Johanna Alex (San Pedro, Calif./Homeschool) (San Pedro, Calif./Homeschool) was the lone winner on Saturday as she beat Callee Conda in a super tiebreaker.

Alex won 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) in the No. 2 singles match at the same time that Rebecca Leland (Bricelyn, Minn./United South Central) (Bricelyn, Minn./United South Central) was battling Katie Motley in the No. 1 singles match. Leland ended up losing 6-4, 6-1, and St. Scholastica went on to win the match 8-1.

With the loss, NWC falls to 5-9 overall and 4-2 in UMAC competition. The Eagles play again on Tuesday, April 20, when they host Bethany Lutheran College at a site to be determined at 3 p.m.
