Men's Tennis falls at St. Mary's

WINONA, Minn. -- After going on a three-match winning streak, the Northwestern College men's tennis team fell to St. Mary's University (Minn.) by a 9-0 account. While all seven Eagle players put forth a valiant effort, St .Mary's swept all nine singles and doubles matches in the nonconference contest.

Caleb Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and Josh Fread (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo) (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo) had the closest score in doubles action as they lost to Steven Mino and Justin Loeffler 8-6. In singles play, Kauss and Derek Gee (Eagan, Minn./Homeschool) (Eagen, Minn./Homeschool) both lost in 6-3, 6-4 fashion to give their opponents the best competition.

Northwestern will play again right away on Thursday, when the Eagles travel to Morris, Minn. to face the University of Minnesota, Morris. That match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
