Men's Tennis opens UMAC schedule with 8-1 loss to St. Scholastica

SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn. – The Northwestern College men's tennis team started its UMAC schedule on Friday, taking an 8-1 loss from the College of St. Scholastica. The Eagles' No. 1 doubles team was the lone winner for NWC in the match despite several Northwestern players showing strong individual performances.

The Eagles' Jeremiah Schneck (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) and Keagen Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) defeated St. Scholastica's Brendan Anderson and Dillon Sterle 9-8 in the first doubles match, starting Northwestern's day off on the right foot. After the Eagles' Nos. 2 and 3 doubles teams lost 8-2 and 8-2, NWC's Caleb Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) came close to knocking off Sterle but ended up losing 6-4, 7-5. Blancke and Schneck also took their singles opponents to extra innings before ultimately trailing in the end.

The Eagles will have more than a week off before their next match, when they host the University of Minnesota, Morris on April 7 at the University of Minnesota's Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
