Eagle women lose to Concordia-Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Northwestern College women's tennis team struggled in its match against Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday, losing 9-0 to the Cobbers. With the loss, Northwestern falls to 0-2 in 2010, while Concordia begins its season at 1-0.

The Eagles' Amy Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) and Dana Smith (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) had the best results for NWC on the day. Knight lost to Ayah Kamel 6-3 before taking her second set to 7-5 in the No. 2 singles battle. In No. 3 singles, Smith lost to Amy Freeman 6-4, 6-2. Northwestern's trio of doubles teams didn't have any better luck than the singles matches, as Concordia took all three 8-2, 8-2, 8-1.

Northwestern now travels down Snelling Avenue to play its next match against Hamline University on Friday, Feb. 19. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
