Pipers get the best of Eagles in men's tennis

ST. PAUL – Northwestern College didn't fare well in its evening match with Hamline University on Friday, losing to the Pipers 9-0. With the loss, the Eagles slip to 0-4 on the season. Hamline improves to 3-1 in 2010.

No. 1 singles player Caleb Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) gave Hamline's David Croonquist a headache early on before losing 6-4, 6-0. The Eagles' Jeremiah Schneck (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) made some ground on Bernard Mitambo, but lost 6-3, 6-2.

In the No. 1 doubles match, Northwestern's Schneck and Keagen Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) hassled their competition from down the road before trailing 8-6.

The Eagles will chew on the loss for a few days before playing back-to-back matches against Lawrence University and Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday, Feb. 27.
