Concordia-Moorhead hands NWC Men 9-0 loss

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Northwestern College men's tennis team didn't fare so well against the Cobbers from Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday as the Eagles lost 9-0. NWC falls to 0-3 on the season, while Concordia earned its first win at 1-3.

A pair of Eagles took their matches to super tiebreakers, but both Caleb Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and Keagen Blancke (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) were on the losing side of extended matches. Kauss, Northwestern's, No. 1 singles player, won 6-3 before falling 4-6. In the tiebreaker, Kauss fell 10-4. Just one court over, Blancke came back to win 6-4 after losing the first set 0-6. Unfortunately for NWC, Blancke ran out of gas as his already-elongated contest went even deeper into extra innings, losing 12-10 in the nail-biting third set.

Jeremiah Schneck (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) also gave his opponent a run in the No. 3 singles match before losing to Brian Olson 6-4, 6-4. Schneck and Blancke had the best performance amongst Northwestern's doubles teams, falling 8-4.

NWC will look towards its next match on Friday, Feb. 19 at Hamline University.
