Carrizales' goal lifts Eagles over Martin Luther

ST. PAUL -- Freshman Rebekah Carrizales (Anoka, Minn./PACT Charter School) (Anoka, Minn./PACT Charter) was the hero on Saturday as Northwestern College fended off Martin Luther College 1-0 at Reynolds Field. Carrizales scored the second goal of her collegiate career with less than four minutes to go in regulation to bump the Eagles' overall record to 4-6 overall and 4-2 in UMAC play.

Lyssa Hester (Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville) (Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville) earned an assist on the play, while Eagles' goalkeeper Tara Hanson (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) recorded her second shutout of the season after tallying two assists.

Northwestern out-shot Martin Luther 21-4, posting 12 shots in the first half. 17 of the Eagles' 21 shots in the game were on goal.

The Eagles will turn their attention to Tuesday's game at Crown College in St. Bonifacuis, Minn., with hopes of extending their current three-game winning streak. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
