ST. PAUL -- The Northwestern College women's soccer team persevered to a double-overtime 0-0 tie with the College of St. Scholastica on Friday in the Eagles' Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opener.

In 110 minutes of play that lasted nearly until darkness, the Eagles' defense battled.  Senior goalkeeper Rhonda Morgan (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) led that defensive effort, saving 13 St. Scholastica shots to earn her first shutout of the season.

NWC wasn't able to get a shot off in the game, despite having some chances down the stretch to break the St. Scholastica defense.  In comparison, the Saints, who have gone to the NCAA tournament the last two years, finished with 18 shots.

Northwestern (0-2-1 overall, 0-0-1 UMAC) will host a home game on Saturday at Mounds View High School in Mounds View, Minn. when Northland College comes to town.  Game time is set for 4 p.m.
