MANKATO, Minn.—
The Northwestern College (2-6 overall, 1-1 UMAC) women's tennis team took its first conference victory against Bethany Lutheran College (2-4 overall, 2-3 UMAC) with a 9-0 sweep.

NWC's top singles players didn't allow their opponents to take more than 2 games off of them in each game, as No. 1 Wendy Miller (Roseville, MN/Saint Joseph High School) (Roseville, Minn./St. Joseph High School) won 6-1, 6-1, No. 2 Rebecca Leland (Bricelyn, Minn./United South Central) (Bricelyn, Minn./United South Central High School) took the victory at 6-2, 6-2 and No. 3 Johanna Alex (San Pedro, Calif./Homeschool) (Crete, Greece/Homeschool) finished with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Northwestern's Dana Smith (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka High School) fought hard to pull out a 7-6, 3-6, 10-8 win over her counterpart.

Double's play didn't look much different as the Eagle's won every set, with No. 1 team Miller and Alex only allowed their opponent to take one game while No. 2 team Leland and Smith gave up 2.
