KONA, Hawaii— The Northwestern women's tennis team played its first match of the day against Hawaii Pacific University, as they posted a 1-8 loss. 
Playing No. 2 singles for the Eagles, Rebecca Leland (Bricelyn, Minn./United South Central) (Bricelyn. Minn./United South Central High School), was able to take two games off her opponent, losing 2-6, 2-6. The only other games won in both singles and doubles combined was by No. 3 singles Johanna Alex (San Pedro, Calif./Homeschool) (Crete, Greece/Homeschool), who was up 2-0 before her counterpart had to drop out due to injury, giving Northwestern only victory in the match.
 
NWC didn't find much more success in its second match of the day against Brigham Young University, losing in 0-9 fashion. 
The only two Eagles to beat their counterpart in a game was No. 1 singles Wendy Miller (Roseville, MN/Saint Joseph High School) (Roseville, Minn./Saint Joseph High School) who was defeated 2-6, 0-6 and No. 5 singles Erica Abeler (Roseville, MN/Roseville High School) (Roseville, Minn./Roseville High School) losing in 0-6, 1-6 fashion.
Northwestern's No. 1 doubles team Miller and Leland took the lone game for the Eagles, ending with a 1-8 loss.
