Eagles take their first victory against Bethany Lutheran

MANKATO, Minn.—
The Northwestern College (1-8 overall, 1-1 UMAC) men's tennis team finished its eight match losing streak by taking its first win against conference opponent Bethany Lutheran College, 6-3.

No. 1 singles Stephen Fread (Minneapolis, MN/Osseo High School) (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo High School) only gave up two games each sent, beating his opponent 6-2, 6-2 while No. 2 Joshua Fread (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo High School) defeated his counterpart in 6-2, 6-1 fashion. The only sets won in singles play by the Vikings were accomplished through tiebreaking matches.

The Eagles solidified the victory with 8-3 defeats by No. 1 doubles Stephen Fread (Minneapolis, MN/Osseo High School) and Joshua Fread and No. 3 team Jay Werness (Farmington, Minn./Rosemount) (Farmington, Minn./Rosemount) and Dan Johnson (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson High School). No. 2 Logan Fischer (Silver Bay, MN/Homeschool) (Silver Bay, Minn./Homeschool) and Ken Linhan (Andover, Minn./Andover High School) were the only loss in doubles play, ending with a score of 4-8.
