St. Scholastica defeats NWC

OWATONNA, Minn. (March 28, 2009)—The  Northwestern College men's tennis team took its first conference defeat from the College of St. Scholastica, 9-0.

Although unable to come away with any won sets, the Eagles No. 1 single player Stephen Fread (Minneapolis, MN/Osseo High School) (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo High School) took six games off his opponent, losing 6-2, 6-4. Joshua Fread (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo High School), No. 2 singles, ended his set with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat while No. 6 singles Garrett Lahr (Brooklyn Park, Minn./) took five off his counterpart, resulting in scores of 6-3, 6-2.

The only games won in doubles play was by No.1 team, consisting of brothers Stephen and Joshua Fread, who ended up losing 8-3.

Northwestern looks for its first win of the season as it heads to Mankato, Minn. to compete against Bethany Lutheran College on April 1 at 2 p.m.
