Women's Tennis falls to St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn.—The Northwestern College women's tennis team took its second conference loss of 2009 as it fell in a 9-0 defeat from the College of St. Scholastica.

All but one of the Eagles' singles players were able to take at least a game from their counterpart, including No. 3 Johanna Alex (San Pedro, Calif./Homeschool) (Crete,Greece/Homeschool), who took three games and No. 2 Rebecca Leland (Bricelyn, Minn./United South Central) (Bricelyn, Minn./United South Central) who took two. No. 1 singles player Wendy Miller (Roseville, MN/Saint Joseph High School) (Roseville, Minn/St. Joseph) also grabbed a game from her opponent.

Each of the doubles teams also took at least one game, as No. 1 partners Miller and Alex lost in 8-5 fashion while No. 2 Leland and Dana Smith (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) fell 8-3.

Northwestern, now 4-2 in the UMAC, will head to Decorah, Iowa as they go head-to-head against Dordt College and Luther College on April 18, beginning at 12 p.m.
