Saints sweep Eagles

DULUTH, Minn.-- The Northwestern College men's tennis team's three-game winning streak was ended on Wednesday as the Eagles were defeated by the College of St. Scholastica in a 9-0 sweep.

Although the Eagles weren't able to win any matches, each individual was able to take at least one game from their opponent, including No. 1 singles player Stephen Fread (Minneapolis, MN/Osseo High School) (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo) and No. 3 singles player Joshua Fread (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo), who both lost in 6-4, 6-3 fashion. No. 2 singles player Jeremiah Schneck (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) took four games off his counterpart from St. Scholastica.

Northwestern's No. 1 doubles team featuring Schneck and Stephen Fread (Minneapolis, MN/Osseo High School) were defeated 8-4, while the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams each took two games from their opponents.

The Eagles, now 4-2 in UMAC competition, will take a break from conference play as they head to Decorah, Iowa this Saturday to compete against Dordt College and Luther College. Those matches begin at 12 p.m.
