By Kristie Bicket

ST. PAUL (Feb. 28, 2009) --
The Northwestern College men's tennis team had its second match on Saturday against Cornell College, resulting in a 7-2 loss.

The lone NWC victory was taken by Jeremiah Schneck (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) (Faribault, Minn./Faribault), who lost his first game 2-6 against opponent John Mineck before winning the next two 7-6, 7-4. In doubles, Schneck, along with partner Stephen Fread (Minneapolis, MN/Osseo High School) (Minneapolis, Minn./Osseo) defeated Cornell's Mineck and Kris Andresen with a score of 8-5.

Earlier in the day, the Eagles lost a 9-0 match to Macalester College, who hosted the triangular.  Fread had the best performance out of all Northwestern players, but the No. 1 singles player fell to the Scots' Charlie Edelman 6-1, 6-3.

Northwestern leaves early next week to continue its season with three matches in Kona, Hawaii.
