Women's Tennis falls to Concordia-Moorhead in season-opening match

FRIDLEY, Minn. (Feb. 6, 2009) – The Northwestern College women's tennis team opened its 2009 season on Saturday against Concordia College-Moorhead, falling to the Cobbers 1-8 at Public Indoor Tennis.

The Eagles' Johanna Alex (San Pedro, Calif./Homeschool) (Crete, Greece/Homeschool) was the only NWC player to claim an individual victory, as the sophomore defeated Concorida's Ashley Leister 6-3, 6-4. Alex and doubles teammate Dana Smith (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) fell to Leister and Ayah Kamel 8-3.

Northwestern will resume the early part of its schedule on Feb. 10, when it takes on the College of St. Catherine at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville, Minn.
