Box Score

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Northwestern College women's soccer team wrapped up its 2009 home season with a 1-0 win over Crown College on Tuesday afternoon.  Sam Ellingson (Apple Valley, Minn./Roseville) scored the game-winner for the Eagles as they played their second consecutive home game at a different location, this time being Roseville High School.

Ellingson's goal, which was assisted by Rebekah Kirby (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) and Susan Scheil (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek), came in the 82nd minute after a hard-fought battle.  Both teams had several chances to score in the game.  Northwestern had 12 shots in the game while Crown ended with eight shots.  The Eagles boasted a 5-1 lead in corner kicks.

NWC's Rhonda Morgan (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) posted six saves en route to her WHAT NUMBER shutout of the season.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 9-7-2 on the year (8-3-2 UMAC), and will need to win or tie Saturday's contest at Crown to overtake the University of Minnesota, Morris for third place in the UMAC standings.  Saturday's game in St. Bonifacius is scheduled to begin at 12 Noon.
