ST. PAUL, Minn. (Nov. 30, 2007) – Indiana Wesleyan had no problem with host Northwestern College to start Day 2 of the National Christian College Athletic Association's (NCCAA) National Tournament, as the Wildcats boosted themselves into the semifinal round with a 3-0 victory (30-19, 30-18, 30-17).
IWU head coach Candace Moats had three of her players record double-digit kills, including Rebekah Reichard who had a team-high 14. Jill MacMillan and Erin Morris also contributed 10 kills apiece in the win.
Indiana Wesleyan hit .294 for the match, compared to only .047 for Northwestern. The Wildcats lead the eight-team tournament field in attacking percentage at .291. IWU's 47 kills easily topped Northwestern's 25 in the contest.
The Eagles didn't have any players tally over six kills, as
Laura Bicket (Zion, Ill./Zion-Benton Township) and
Steph Koth (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) each had six.
After defeating all three of their opponents in Pool A, Indiana Wesleyan will play Pool B's No. 2 team in Saturday's semifinal round, which begins at 12 p.m. Northwestern, who entered the tournament as the eighth seed, will wait to hear their tournament's fate, which will be decided after a 2:30 p.m. match between Bryan College and Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
