Opposite Ends: Eagles Beat Crown In Three Games

St. Paul, Minn., Oct. 10, 2007 – The Northwestern College volleyball team made quick work of their opponents Wednesday night, taking three games straight from Crown College in a match that lasted just over an hour.

The Storm struggled to put points on the board, as NWC won 30-11, 30-12 and 30-18.

Northwestern brought their “A-Game” offense, backed by a .330 attacking percentage, while Crown struggled at -.045. The Eagles used a .441 attacking percentage in the first game alone to spring board them through the rest of the contest.

NWC's Kathryne Engel (Wayzata, Minn./West Lutheran) (Wayzata, Minn./West Lutheran) had one of her better matches of the year, recording 11 kills on 16 attempts (.688). Steph Koth (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) had an equally impressive contest, tallying 15 kills on 28 attempts.

Koth was Northwestern's digs leader with 14, while Slagter had 13.

Everyone who was available played in the match for Northwestern, which allowed the Eagles' starters to rest for a busy weekend ahead that includes home matches against Minnesota-Morris and Presentation.

Increasing their current win streak to eight and staying perfect in UMAC play brings Northwestern's record to 15-9 on the season, and 7-0 in the conference. Crown, who has yet to win a UMAC match, slides to 2-20 (0-7 UMAC).

The Eagles will be back on the Ericksen Center court, as Minnesota-Morris comes to town for a 7 p.m. match.
