ST. PAUL (Apr. 5, 2008) – The Northwestern College men's and women's tennis teams didn't take long to establish command in their morning matches versus the University of Minnesota-Morris. The Eagle men's squad won 8-1 before Northwestern's women claimed a 9-0 victory.

On the men's side, none of NWC's doubles teams had much trouble with Morris, winning 8-0, 8-1 and 8-1. No. 3 singles Jeremiah Schneck (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) had the best day in solo play, defeating the Cougars' Chris Droske 6-1, 6-0. The No. 5 singles position was the only match Northwestern lost all day, improving their record to 2-12 (2-1 UMAC).

Rebecca Leland (Bricelyn, Minn./United South Central) (Bricelyn, MN / United South Central) was the odd woman out for Northwestern in women's play, as the sophomore was the only Eagle to give up a point in the entire match. After Leland's first set (6-1 win), every other singles and doubles set was 6-0 in favor of NWC. The 9-0 victory bumped the Eagles to 6-6 (2-1 UMAC) in 2008.

Both the men's and women's teams are scheduled to play matches on back-to-back days to start the new week. The Eagles will first host North Central University on Monday (3:30 p.m.) before traveling to New Ulm, Minn. on Tuesday to take on Martin Luther College (3 p.m.).
