MORRIS, Minn. (Apr. 15)
– The second round was twice as nice for the Northwestern College men's and women's tennis teams, as the Eagles defeated UMAC opponent Minnesota-Morris for the second time this season.

NWC's women's squad had little difficulty with Morris, repeating their 9-0 victory over the Cougars from April 5. Three of the Eagles' singles players including Kayla Ross (New Hope, MN/Cooper High School) (New Hope, Minn./Cooper), Shelby Baker (Winona, MN/Winona High School) (Winona, MN / Winona) and Jenn Porter (Fargo, ND/Park Christian High School) (Fargo, ND / Park Christian) scored 6-0, 6-0 wins.

Minnesota-Morris gave the Northwestern men a little more heat than their previous match, but the Eagles pulled out a 6-3 victory. The Eagles claimed the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches before winning four of the six singles matches. Jeremiah Schneck (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) had the best individual match in terms of score, defeating Morris' Chris Haglin 6-1, 6-0.

The Eagle men improve to 5-13 (3-1 UMAC) on the year, while the women's squad moves to 8-6 (3-1 UMAC). Both men's and women's teams will be in action again on Thursday, when they host Martin Luther College in a 3 p.m. match.
