Women's Soccer wins fifth straight after shutting out Martin Luther

ST. PAUL (Oct. 4, 2008) – The Northwestern College women's soccer team won yet another game on their home turf on Saturday, making that a perfect 4-0 at Reynolds Field after a 2-0 win over Martin Luther College. The Eagles had possession for a majority of the game, which was evidenced by their 15-2 advantage in shots.

Amy Green (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) scored her third goal of the year in the game's 63rd minute, putting a goal past Martin Luther's Amanda Koch in a heap of congestion in front of the net. Nikki Seviola (Circle Pines, MN/Centennial High School) (Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial) received credit for the assist on Green's goal.

Kyrie Jorgenson (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) scored an insurance goal for Northwestern in the 75th minute, taking a Seviola corner and heading it into the back of the net.

The Eagles' Rhonda Morgan (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) worked a full 90 minutes in goal to earn her fourth shutout of the year. The freshman had one save in the game.

Northwestern (6-4-0 overall, 5-1-0 UMAC) has won five straight games after today's win, and currently own second place in the UMAC by themselves. The College of St. Scholastica, a team that the Eagles lost to in mid-September, currently reigns supreme as the league's only undefeated team.

The Eagles will take in a full week of practice before hitting the road on Friday, Oct. 10 as they travel to Aberdeen, S.D. to play Presentation College. That game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
