ST. PAUL (Oct. 18, 2008) – The College of St. Scholastica ended Northwestern's seven-game winning streak in UMAC play on Saturday, shutting out the Eagles 4-0 in their first loss at Reynolds Field this season. With the win, the Saints remain undefeated in conference play and are well on their way to winning their fifth conference championship.
Robin Johnson and Sarah Bartlette each scored goals in the first half, followed by scores from Kristen Stangel and Angiel Groh in the second 45 minutes to give Scholastica the 4-0 win.
St. Scholastica held a 14-6 advantage in shots.
Northwestern slides to 9-6-0 overall and 8-2-0 in UMAC play, still maintaining second place in the conference standings. The Eagles are in a good position to host the first round of the UMAC tournament, which switches to a new format in 2008 where the higher seeds will host throughout. As the second seed, NWC would host the league's third-place team on Nov. 4. The Eagles will drive a few miles down Snelling Ave. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, when they play Hamline University at 3:30 p.m.
