Women's Soccer maintains second place in UMAC with 1-0 win over Minn.-Morris

MORRIS, Minn. (Oct. 11, 2008) -- The Northwestern College womens' soccer team won its seventh straight UMAC game on Saturday, defeating the University of Minnesota, Morris 1-0.  Anna Hilden (Minnetonka, Minn./Southwest Christian)'s (Minnetonka, Minn./Southwest Christian) goal in the 52nd minute was the only score by either team in the game, lifting the Eagles to a victory.

Hilden's goal was her fourth of the season, coming after a pass from Kyrie Jorgenson (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah).  Rhonda Morgan (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek) (Andover, Minn./Andover) had eight saves in front of the net for Northwestern, earning her fourth straight UMAC shutout and the sixth overall this season.

With the win, the Eagles improve their season's record to 8-5-0 overall and 7-1-0 in UMAC play.  Northwestern, who holds second place in the league by two games, will host Northland College on Friday, Oct. 17 before taking on conference-leader St. Scholastica on Saturday.  Both games will be at Reynolds field.  The NWC-Northland bout will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, followed by the 12 p.m. affair on Saturday.
