Morris, Minn., Oct. 12, 2007 – The Northwestern College women's soccer team started their game versus Minnesota-Morris on Friday afternoon with an audible, changing personnel and formations after the loss of goalkeeper
Karen Kruse (Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) in their last contest. With valuable defender
Rebecca Miller (Milton, WI/Milton High School) (Milton, Wis./Milton) filling Kruse's void, the Eagles defense struggled, giving up five goals in a 5-0 final against the Cougars.
UM-Morris didn't take long to capitalize on the Eagles, as Andrea Lund scored for the Cougars within the game's first three minutes. The goals kept steadily building up in the first half, as Morris had racked up a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Nina Jarnot scored one more goal at 74:58 for the Cougars, giving her team a lop-sided 5-0 win.
Miller tallied eight saves in her first start in goal for Northwestern while yielding the five goals.
As the goals kept coming for UMM, so too did the shots that preceded them, as the Cougars held a 23-5 advantage. None of the Eagles' shots were on goal.
Northwestern will try to rebound on Saturday, when they face a Presentation squad that they defeated 5-0 in their last bout this year. The contest is schedule for 2:30 p.m. in Aberdeen, S.D.
