Women's Soccer On Top of One-Goal Game vs. MLC

Box Score

St. Paul, Minn., Oct. 5, 2007
– The Northwestern College women's soccer team pulled out a close victory over Martin Luther Friday afternoon, banking on Kyrie Jorgenson (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah)'s (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) goal in the 57th minute to win the 1-0 battle.

Jorgenson made what is becoming a trademark sliding attempt for herself, netting a shot that found the top-right corner of the net from 25 yards out at 57:15. The freshman phenom leads the Eagle squad with ten goals this year. Amy Green (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) was credited with an assist on Jorgenson's goal.

Northwestern's defense took care of the rest, fighting off offensive pushes by the Knights to preserve the victory.

Karen Kruse (Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) had five saves in her third shutout of the season.

The Eagles (4-6-1, 4-3-1 UMAC) will turn around and play again on Saturday, hosting Bethany Lutheran at Mounds View High School for a 2 p.m. contest.
