Women's Soccer Falls Hard to Crown

Box Score

St. Bonifacius, Minn., Sept. 25, 2007
– Things didn't go quite as planned on Tuesday, as the Northwestern College women's soccer team took a hard loss at Crown College, falling 4-1 to the Storm.

Amy Green (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) scored the Eagles' lone goal in the 64th minute, but it was far too late as Crown had already posted a three-goal lead on NWC. Green's goal was assisted by Courtney Davis (Council Bluffs, Iowa/Abraham Lincoln) (Council Bluffs, Iowa/Abraham Lincoln).

Crown's first goal came at 23:31, and NWC head coach Josh Pettit's defense held the Storm (4-3) off for the remainder of the first half. Crown's Lyndsay Geer had back-to-back goals within 90 seconds though shortly into the second period to give Crown a 3-0 lead.

One more goal by Crown in the 74th minute gave the Storm all the insurance they needed to preserve the victory.

Northwestern currently stands at 2-4-1 (2-2-1 UMAC) on the season, and will try to avenge Tuesday's loss with back-to-back games versus Presentation and Minnesota-Morris on Friday and Saturday. Friday's contest will begin at 2 p.m. at Reynolds Field on Northwestern's campus.
