Bekah Schmidt

Bekah Schmidt is entering her fifth season as an assistant coach with the University of Northwestern Softball team. Schmidt played softball and graduated from Division I Drake University in 2015.

Coach Schmidt had a prolific playing career before transitioning into coaching. Schmidt led her team to four consecutive MSHSL 1A State Championships at New Life Academy. In 2011, Schmidt was named the Athena Award Winner for Excellence in Athletics. After high school, Coach Schmidt continued her impressive career at Drake. Schmidt was a part of a conference championship team in 2015 when the Bulldogs won the Missouri Valley Conference. Schmidt was named the MVC Pitcher of the Year in 2015 as well. Schmidt hit 12 homeruns and struckout a remarkable 644 batters while at Drake. 

Schmidt has played against some of the best softball players in the country. While at Drake Schmidt played against National Champion teams Oklahoma, Florida, and Alabama. During Coach Schmidt's time at Drake she also went up against the University of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and many more high quality opponents.

Following her playing career, Coach Schmidt became a Graduate Assistant Coach at Bethel University from 2015-2017. 

During her time as an assistant coach with the Eagles, UNW has seen a lot of success on the softball field. Schmidt has been apart of two Conference Tournament Championships and has appeared in the NCAA National Tournament twice. 

Schmidt currently resides Plymouth, Minnesota.
