Patrick Fitzgerald

Patrick Fitzgerald enters his second season as the University of Northwestern Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach in 2025. He is the eighth Cross Country head coach in school history and the 10th Track and Field head coach.

Coach Fitzgerald comes to Northwestern having racked up nearly a decade's worth of experience at St. Cloud Cathedral High School in central Minnesota. During his time with the Crusaders, Fitzgerald served as the middle and long distance track coach and spent multiple seasons as the Head Coach of the Boys Cross Country team. While coaching track and cross country in St. Cloud, Fitzgerald was also working as a Physical Education teacher at St. Cloud Math and Science Academy and serving as a caregiver in the area. Coach Fitzgerald is a relational coach and says that the athletes and families at St. Cloud Cathedral will always hold a special place in his heart. He is grateful for the experiences he gained at the high school level and is ready for the challenge of leading collegiate Cross Country and Track and Field programs.

Fitzgerald's vision for Eagle Cross Country and Track and Field is to have programs that are first established by their identity as Christ-followers. Once that foundation as believers is established, Coach plans on bringing a program that will challenge his student-athletes, honor hard work, and foster growth on and off the track/course.
