Jakob Swanson joins the University of Northwestern as an Assistant Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach in 2026. He assists with team practices, player development, tournament preparation, and on-course coaching during competition.
Swanson brings extensive collegiate playing experience to the Eagles. During his career, he recorded four medalist honors and 12 top-five finishes, earned three UMAC Player of the Week awards and three UMAC All-Conference selections, and was named a 2025 NCCAA All-American after finishing T-9th at the NCCAA National Championship. He was also the recipient of the 2025 NCCAA Dan & Kelly Wood Award.
As a collegiate player, Swanson served as a team captain and tied a Northwestern program record with a round of 67 at the 2025 BLC Invite. He also helped the Eagles post a program-record team score of 285 that day in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
Swanson is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Sports Psychology and a Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience. He also brings two years of experience as an Assistant Golf Professional and currently works as a Club Fitter at 2nd Swing Minneapolis, further expanding his experience in golf instruction, equipment, and player development.
