MORRIS, Minn. - The University of Northwestern Women's Cross Country team traveled to Morris, Minnesota, for the Cougar Twilight hosted by the University of Minnesota. UNW not only had the top finisher in the 6K race, but also won the event as a team with 19 points, well ahead of second place with 55 points. The Eagles had five of the top six finishers in the race.

Natalie Van De Riet (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) won the race with a time of 24:21.1, nearly two minutes faster than her time last week. Emery Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) followed in third place, finishing in 25:48.9. Cheyanne Scalese (Lancaster, Minn./Lancaster Public) raced in her first event of the season, clocking a 28:35.9 finish to take fourth place. Two seconds behind Scalese was Alicia Arredondo (Robbinsdale, Minn./Homeschool) with a time of 28:37.1, almost a minute faster than her time last week. Chloe Zimmerman (Helena, Mont./Capital) rounded out the Eagles' top five, finishing sixth with a time of 28:53.6.

Torah Barrett (Belle Plaine, Minn./Jordan) and Samary Acuna (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) finished ninth and 11th with respective times of 29:35.4 and 30:05.1. Mariah Klippenes (South Haven, Minn./Annandale), Kimberlyn Case (Sleepy Eye, Minn./Litchfield), Olivia Usselman (Stillwater, Minn./Math and Science Academy), and Kaylee Kent (Hugo, Minn./Homeschool) placed 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st, while Kennedy Van De Riet (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) and Claire Nelsen (Elkton, Minn./Southland) finished 23rd and 26th overall.

UNW races again on Friday, September 18, at the Toni St. Pierre Invitational hosted by the College of St. Benedict in Cold Spring, Minnesota.
