MORRIS, Minn. - On Friday evening in Morris, Minnesota, the University of Northwestern Men's Cross Country team delivered a second-place finish at the Cougar Twilight.

August Swenson (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) broke up the UW-Superior party in the top five, finishing third overall with a time of 20:27.4 in his first 6K race of the season. Two additional Northwestern freshmen also delivered impressive performances, finishing eighth and ninth. Jonah Peterson (Harrisburg, S.D./Harrisburg) crossed the finish line with a time of 22:44.4, while Hudson Selfridge (Rapid City, S.D./Rapid City Christian) followed in 22:52.0. Samuel Otis (Shoreview, Minn./Homeschool) rounded out the Eagles' top five in 10th place with a time of 22:56.4.

A group of Eagles finished within 23 seconds of each other in 15th, 16th, and 17th place. Caleb Saari (Wyoming, Minn./Homeschool) led the charge with his 23:55.3 finish, while senior Joshua Ringsmuth (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) came in at 24:11.3 and fellow senior Peter Kephart (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) crossed at 24:18.3.

Darrius Van Hubbard Jr. (North Minneapolis, Minn./Camden) turned in a time of 28:53.5, while Cody Mercado (Arden Hills, Minn./Fourth Baptist Christian School) finished with a time of 32:49.7.

UNW will return to the course on Friday, September 18, participating in the Toni St. Pierre Invitational at 6:45 PM in Cold Spring, Minnesota.
