STURTEVANT, Wis. – After a strong showing in last week's UNW Invite, the University of Northwestern Men's Golf team is back in action this week, partaking in the Firebird Fall Classic, hosted by Carthage College. The two-round event began Monday morning at Ives Grove Golf Links and will conclude Tuesday at The Club at Strawberry Creek. You can follow along with live scoring

Day One
The Eagles put up a solid showing on day one with a team score of 303, putting them in a tie for ninth among the 19 participating teams.
Shane Seiffert (Corcoran, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) led the way with a 71 (-1) after starting -4 with five birdies through 10 holes, putting him in a tie for seventh place.
Luke Frazell (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) got off to a hot start as well, birdieing the first two holes, as well as holes six and 10, for a final tally of 74 (+2). The freshman is tied for 20th heading into Tuesday.
Jakob Swanson (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) turned it on after eight holes, birdieing three of the final 10 to card a 78 (+6) and is tied for 57th, while
Carson Besonen (Madison, Minn./Lac qui Parle Valley), who was crowned NCCAA Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday, turned in the final countable score with an 80 (+8).
Carter Dilly (Henning, Minn./Henning) rounded out the UNW lineup with an 81 (+9).
Northwestern will finish the tournament Tuesday at The Club at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
