ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bright and early on Homecoming Saturday morning, the Northwestern men's and women's cross country teams kicked off the festivities with the third annual Purple Donut Run. In the campus 3-miler, both squads led the pack of close to 1,000 participants around Northwestern's 102-acre campus
For the men, Tyler Dueber (Bloomington, Minn./Homeschool) crossed the line 2nd overall with a time of 16:29, followed byOwen Van De Riet (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) and Caleb Phillips (Poplar, Wis./South Shore). On the women's side, Emery Maki (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) led the way, clocking a time of 18:33, with Isabelle Yuhanna (Ham Lake, Minn./North Lakes Academy) and Natalie Van De Riet (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) rounding out the top three.
With high spirits and plenty of smiles, the teams finished strong on the campus green, rewarded, of course, with a purple donut at the finish line.
