ST. PAUL, Minn. - Three University of Northwestern student-athletes have been named Player of the Week for their respective conferences.
Bryce Crabb (Des Moines, Iowa/Grand View Christian) and
Jacob Weddle (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) were recognized by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, while
Cara Smith's (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) honor came from the Midwest Lacrosse Conference. The three recipients bring Northwestern's total conference player of the week winners to 50 for the 2023-24 school year.
Crabb was named UMAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row after a record-setting outing versus Macalester on Friday that saw him become the all-time winningest pitcher in Northwestern Baseball history. This is the seventh time Crabb has won the Pitcher of the Week honor in his illustrious career. Weddle was announced as the UMAC Men's Tennis North Division winner, which makes four consecutive weeks that an Eagle has won that honor. This is the third time the junior, who went 4-0 last week and is 15-0 on the season, has won the award in his career at UNW.
UMAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

- Crabb turned in a historic performance in his only appearance on the mound this past week.
- In UNW's 9-1 win over Macalester, Crabb went 8 innings, only gave up one run, and struck out 11 batters.
- The win was the 22nd of his career which made the all-time winningest pitcher in UNW Baseball history.
UMAC MEN'S TENNIS NORTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK

- Weddle went 4-0 himself on Saturday as UNW beat St. Scholastica 5-4 and Ripon 9-0, improving to 15-0 on the season for the undefeated Eagles
- The junior won his singles matches, 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 (vs. CSS) and 6-3, 6-2 (vs. Ripon).
- He also teamed with
Stewart Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Homeschool) to win both doubles matches, 8-7 (7-4) (CSS) and 8-2 (Ripon).
MLC WOMEN'S LACROSSE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

-Smith scored four goals and added four assists over the two games on the week for the Eagles.
-She scored four goals in Saturday's 13-8 win over Concordia Wisconsin.
-Smith added six draw controls, six ground balls, and 10 caused turnovers on the week.
-This is Smith's first offensive career MLC honor as she previously earned six defensive weekly honors in her career.
