SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Northwestern Women's Soccer team faced off against UW-Superior, who is ranked second in the UMAC, on Wednesday night. The Eagles kept the score within one during the first half, but were unable to slow the Yellowjackets, who went on to beat Northwestern 0-6.
The Eagles had four great shot opportunities in the first half, but all four attempts were thwarted by Superior's goal keeper. After a mostly even first half, the Yellow Jackets came out quickly in the second half, scoring three more goals in the first ten minutes following the break. The Jackets' momentum continued as they netted two additional goals before the final buzzer.
Haley Mersberger (Kiel, Wis./Elkhart Lake Glenbeulah), Briella Babcock (Byron, Minn./Byron), and Meghan Corbett (Sartell, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral) all took two shots and each landed one on target. Samantha Hansen (Cottage Grove, Minn./New Life Academy) finished the match with 12 saves.
Northwestern will look to rally against North Central on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 PM, following the men's game.
