GREENVILLE, S.C. - The National Christian College Athletic Association released its 2023 Women's Soccer Awards.
Haley Mersberger (Kiel, Wis./Elkhart Lake Glenbeulah), a sophomore forward from the University of Northwestern, was named to the DI All-America Second Team. She is the first Northwestern Women's Soccer player to ever receive All-America recognition from the NCCAA.
Mersberger followed up an historic freshman season with an even better 2023 campaign to earn her second consecutive UMAC Offensive Player of the Year crown. The Wisconsin native broke her own school record with 29 goals, which was the most by any player in NCCAA Division I Women's Soccer. Mersberger also broke school records for points in a season (62, breaking her own record of 57), shots in a game (21) and shots in a season (146). On the national scale, she also finished first in NCCAA DI in shots (146), shots per game (7.30), shots on goal (85) and shots on goal per game (4.0). Mersberger also finished second nationally in game-winning goals (7), points (63) and points per game (3.15).
