NEW ULM, Minn.- The University of Northwestern Women's Golf team picked up their first win of the spring as they won the Knights Invitational as a team on Thursday. In addition to winning as a team, the Eagles had the top three individual finishers, including
Claire Haakenson (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael Albertville) who won the meet as the top scorer.
Haakenson shot a 90 (+19) to pick up her first win of the spring. Haakenson led the way, and fellow Eagle
Mattie Krause (Clear Lake, Iowa/Clear Lake) was right behind her. Krause finished in second place overall by shooting a 92 (+21).
Kirsten Darling (Coon Rapids, Minn./Legacy Christian Academy) rounded out the Eagles sweep of the top three by finishing in a tie for third place by shooting a 93 (+22).
Samantha Burkhart (Salix, Iowa/Westwood) had a very strong day for the Eagles, as she finished in the top five. The Eagles had four of the top five finishers at the meet. Burkhart shot a 94 (+23).
Natalie Wilcox (Danville, Iowa./Danville) rounded out the Eagles' top five by shooting a 104 (+33).
Grace Landvik (St. Paul, Minn./Concordia Academy) shot a 111 (+40).
The Eagles will play their third meet in four days on Saturday when they compete in Augsburg's invitational.
