NEW ULM, Minn.- The University of Northwestern Men's Golf team competed in their second meet in as many days on Thursday as they participated in the Knights Invitational hosted by Martin Luther. The day for the Eagles was highlighted by an individual win, as
Max Wilcox (Danville, Iowa/Danville) finished first overall.
Wilcox shot a 74 (+4) to win the meet in a very competitive top of the field. In a day where many golfers were locked in and shot low scores, Wilcox was able to edge out an individual victory. Seven golfers were able to shoot 78s or lower, and Wilcox won the invitational by a single stroke edging out Noah Fick from Bethany Lutheran.
Jackson Nyhus (Henning, Minn./Henning) had a good day for the Eagles as well as he came away with a top five finish, finishing in a tie for fifth shooting a 78 (+8).
Ethan Van Hauwaert (Marshall, Minn./Marshall) shot an 89 (+19) and
Luke Bogdonovich (Greenwood, Wisc./Loyal) was right with him shooting a 90 (+20).
Jacob Lundin (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) rounded out the Eagles' top five by shooting a 105 (+35).
The Eagles finished fifth overall as a team.
The Eagles will get a day off but then are right back on the course as they will compete in a meet hosted by Augsburg on Saturday.
