ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference announced their Players of the Week on Tuesday and Northwestern student-athletes earned four of the weekly awards.The Eagles swept the volleyball honors for the second consecutive week and also earned a football honor. With these four awards, the eagles have earned seven UMAC Player of the Week honors during the 2021-22 athletic season.
FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
George Obitz (Florence, Ariz./Florence)
- Led Northwestern defense in loss to Buena Vista
- Recorded eight tackles including four solo
- Registered 2.5 sacks on the day
VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK
Sydney Schwitters (Clara City, Minn./MACCRAY)
- Averaged 11.33 a/s in pair of Eagle sweeps
- Recorded 33 and 35 assists vs. UW-La Crosse and Dubuque, respectively
- Eclipsed 30 assists for the fifth time this season
VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kendra Hardy (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria)
- Averaged 2.83 k/s in two 3-0 wins for the Eagles
- Hit .378 in two matches with 17 total kills
- Recorded seven kills and no errors (.412) in win vs. UW-La Crosse
VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marylyn Schroyer (Ft. Collins, Colo./Ft. Collins)
- Averaged 8.33 d/s in two Northwestern wins
- Recorded 27 digs in win over Dubuque
- Has collected 20 or more digs in four matches this season
