Eagles to Face Illinois Wesleyan in NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament First Round

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The University of Northwestern St. Paul Men's Lacrosse team will travel to face Illinois Wesleyan in the First Round of the 2021 NCAA National Tournament, the National Collegiate Athletic Association announced on Sunday night.

The Eagles earned an automatic bid to the national tournament with a 17-4 victory in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament Championship game. With the MLC Championship win, Northwestern became the first team out of Minnesota to ever qualify for the NCAA DIII Men's Lacrosse Tournament.

The Titans advanced to the National Tournament with an 18-17 win over North Central in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament. The CCIW Championship game went to overtime, where Illinois Wesleyan scored the game winner to claim the tournament title.

Northwestern will face the Titans this Friday, May 14, at Tucci Stadium. The game time is set for 1pm. The winner of the contest will advance to the Second Round on Saturday.
