Spring sports and their athletic competitions will continue as scheduled for student-athletes, coaches, training staff and athletic administrators until further notice. Housing, meals, and essential campus functions will remain open. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, March 14 – the NCAA issued a statement announcing the cancellation of all remaining winter and spring championships. The NCAA has established an advisory panel headlined by NCAA Chief Medical Officer Dr. Brian Hainline. More info on the panel can be found
here. The NCAA has also put together a
coronavirus resource page.
Given this development, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) governance councils will convene in a timely manner and discuss how the conference will approach the remainder of the 2020 spring sports season. The UMAC Council of Presidents/Chancellors will make any formal, final decisions related to UMAC schedules, UMAC tournaments and championships and other conference operations. In the interim, member institutions of the UMAC will continue to make campus decisions that are in the best interests of their athletics departments and other constituents.
