ASHLAND, WIS. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team crossed the border to take on Northland College for the second time this season. The Eagles defeated the Lumberjills (4-7-0, 4-2-0 UMAC) by a final score of 4-0, for their second win against the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opponent. With the win, Northwestern moves to 5-4-4 overall and 5-1-1 in UMAC play.
The offense was led by
Linley Norman (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) in the first half. The junior forward scored two goals in the opening frame, with
Anna Welch (Lakeville, Minn./Homeschool) assisting the second goal. The Eagles would hold a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Northwestern offense continued to click in the second half, adding two more goals. Sophomore
Emily Currie (Minneapolis, Minn./Homeschool) scored the third goal of the contest, set up again by Welch. Welch was able to tally a goal of her own, scoring the final goal of the contest from a
Hannah Walmsley (Lino Lakes, Minn./Homeschool) assist.
