Box Score ASHLAND, WIS. – The University of Northwestern men's lacrosse team [5-7 overall] competed at Northland College [6-9 overall] Saturday evening. Putting forth a battling effort throughout all four quarters, the Eagles fell short 20-7 to the Lumberjacks to wrap up their first-ever season.
NC took the field ready for action, as the home team netted nine goals throughout the first two frames to lead at the halftime break 9-1.
Though the Eagles contended to the best of their abilities all through the third and fourth period, adding six more tallies to the scoreboard, the Lumberjacks tacked on 11, which was enough to secure the victory 20-7 over the visiting team.
Closing the evening challenge, Freshman attacker
Noah Vander Kooi (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) buried four goals on the contest, while teammate
Keller Stephens (Lino Lakes, Minn./Mounds View ) netted two. Freshman midfielder
Gavin Welch (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) also played a great game, as he knocked in one goal for the Eagles.

Brady Minich (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) competed well, as he recorded a career-high five assists on the night's competition, respectively.
On the defensive end, Goalkeeper
Zach Shockencey (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) caught 15 saves on the contest, finishing the season with 144 overall.
As a team, Northwestern totaled 14 shots [11 SOG], scooped 20 ground balls, and went 17-20 on clears.
