DULUTH, Minn. – The University of Northwestern softball team fell 4-1 to the College of St. Scholastica Saturday afternoon.
St. Scholastica had a powerful third inning with three runs for the home team. The Saints kept the heat coming with a home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, and fortunately, no other runners were on base. With St. Scholastica up 4-0, Northwestern responded in the seventh as Klingbeil's single through the left side scored in Feldheim. Unfortunately one run in the final inning wasn't enough to secure the win.
The Eagles were not able to capitalize at bat, hitting 5 for 24. St. Scholastica's 7 for 22 was just enough to score their four runs for the day.
Northwestern (14-7 UMAC) ended the 2015 season in day two's elimination game of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.
