Box Score

ST. PAUL— The University of Northwestern women's soccer team struggled to keep up with Augsburg College with a 10-0 loss in their season debut.

It didn't take long for the home team to build momentum with a goal in the first 26 seconds of the game. Augsburg quickly stacked up eight more goals in the first half alone including three in a row from Marie Fitzgerald.

The Eagles improved in the second half by holding off the Auggie offense to only one additional goal; however, they were unable to execute on offense. Northwestern struggled with zero shots on goal in comparison to Augsburg's 22 shots on goal.

Northwestern (0-1) will continue to seek their first victory this season as they play Morningside College Friday at 2 p.m. in Sioux City, Iowa. The Eagles will host their first home game on the new turf as they begin conference play on September 19 at 2 p.m. against Northland College.
