MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer season came to an end Saturday afternoon, as the Eagles were unable to even a two-goal deficit put up by the University of Minnesota Morris. Heading into Saturday's contest the Eagles needed a tie or win, plus some help from Northland College to advance into the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Postseason Tournament. With the loss, UNW concludes its' season with a 6-13-1 overall record.

Northwestern earned the first offensive attempts of the afternoon, but it was the Cougars who would first get on the board at the 22:21 point in the match. UMM continued to roll, forcing two more shots before its second and final score would play out with just 3:10 left in the first period.

As the next half began, the Eagles would only be allowed one shot throughout the 45 minutes of action, but the visiting squad would withstand seven attempts from Minnesota Morris to neutralize the deficit.

As the time ran out on the pitch, UNW headed off the field for the final time of the 2013 campaign. Emily Johnson (Esko, Minn./Esko) picked up credit for five saves in the 90 minute game, while on offense the Purple and Gold won the corner kick battle by a margin of three.

The contest marked the final matchup for four seniors, Lauren Cleope (Manila, Philippines/Faith Academy), Lindsay Halvorson (Elk River, Minn./Elk River), Emily Johnson (Esko, Minn./Esko) and Sarah Stenson (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy), who were each part of the Eagles' first-ever berth into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III tournament in 2010.
