Box Score ST. PAUL -- A penalty kick in the last minute of the first half was the difference maker in a 1-0 final score between Augsburg College and Northwestern College on a hot and humid Thursday afternoon. Both teams took to the field for the first time in 2011 and it was the Auggies' Olivia Muyres who took advantage of her opportunity from 11 yards out to beat Eagles goalkeeper Tara Hanson (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek).

Northwestern was playing its first game since playing in the NCAA Tournament in November.

Besides the penalty kick, the offense was fairly even on the pitch. Northwestern finished with three shots on goal while Augsburg had four. NWC's Lauren Cleope (Manila, Philippines/Faith Academy) (Waterloo, Iowa/Faith Academy) had two shots in the game. Hanson posted three saves in front of the goal while giving up the game's lone goal.

The Eagles, who begin their season 0-1, will have a full weekend to recuperate from Thursday's sun-filled game before facing St. Catherine University on Wednesday, September 7 in St. Paul. That game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
