Box Score

ST. PAUL -- Northwestern College was unable to keep its initial lead over Concordia University-St. Paul  on Saturday, ultimately losing to the Golden Bears by a 3-1 score.  The Eagles' NCAA Division II opponent held a 10-3 shots on goal advantage en route to winning on its home turf.

Kyrie Jorgenson (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) had the Eagles' lone goal in the game, giving Northwestern an early 1-0 lead at the 15:39 mark.  The senior took a pass from Susan Scheil (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) and beat goalkeeper Kayla Kuczaboski on the right side.  Concordia tied the game in the 31st minute on a goal from Brittany Kapala, who scored on the Eagles' Tara Hanson (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) from the left.

Two minutes into the second half, the Bears' Kaylyn Rae Smith scored what proved to be the game-winning goal after taking a pass from Arielle Stimson, who also assisted Kapals's goal.  Stimson added a goal of her own in the 82nd minute to finish the game's scoring.

The Eagles are still in the hunt for their first win of the season at 0-4. Northwestern's next chance at a win will come on Friday, Sept. 17 when the team travels to Aberdeen, S.D. to begin its conference schedule against Presentation College. That contest is slated for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
